Peach, basil and raspberry infused water

Staying in the theme of this month’s book tip of the month (Fruit Infused Water by Patrick Smith) and after sharing my first infused water recipe a few months ago, I figured it was about time to create a brand new fruit flavored water recipe. This time I’ve tried something a little bit different than my first basic lemon, cucumber and mint version by using basil, raspberries and peaches.

I’ve always loved both peaches and raspberries and though I had never tried them together, I knew their flavours would not only create a delicious drink, but the colours would also look really fresh, fun and bright. By adding basil I gave this drink a bit of an edge but you really have to be careful not to put too much basil leaves in, as you just want this to be a subtle part of the entire flavour, and not have it become the overwhelming taste.

Now what are the health benefits of drinking infused water? Well for starters it’ll obviously help you stay hydrated. A lot of people find the taste of water quite boring and will therefore not be drinking it enough, but by adding natural ingredients and flavours to it, you’ll end up with creative water recipes that will not taste or look boring at all! They are also low in calories, have no artificial flavours, boost your metabolism, have great natural antioxidants and no fructose, help with losing weight and improve your mood, to name just a few benefits.

Peach, basil and raspberry infused water


  • 100g raspberries
  • 1 large peach
  • 1/2 handful of basil
  • 1l of water


Making infused water is very easy and requires barely any work at all. Simply wash the berries, basil leaves and peaches really well and slice up the peaches in 8 pieces. Put all the ingredients in a large jug and add the water on top. Put in the fridge for at least two hours and serve when you’re happy with the flavors.

Because the berries tend to go bad in the water a lot faster than lemons/cucumber, you really don’t want to be drinking this for more than a day. However, you can create different water bottles filled up with the flavored water without the fruit. After letting it sit in the fridge for a few hours (until you’re pleased with the strength of the flavor), drain the water through a sieve into water bottles and put them in the fridge as well. You can refill the original jug with fruit and let that sit in the fridge again for the same amount of time if you want to fill up more water bottles. Just keep in mind that you shouldn’t use the berries for longer than a day, cause the quality will go down too much.
