Chrissy Teigen is a goddess! This woman is nothing short of hilarious, gorgeous and seems genuinely down to earth for such a big celebrity – well I mean, if her Instagram stories are anything to go by. So when her first cookbook got released I got really excited as it sounded like it would be filled with loads of creative and new recipes. And this is coming from someone who is very sceptical of celebs making cookbooks. I ended up gifting a copy to my sister for her birthday and we made a few recipes while I was visiting Belgium, and the book didn’t disappoint. When it comes to her second cookbook you can expect the same type of recipes from Chrissy: family favourites, recipes from her mom, .. but this time around – being a mom for 2 years a lot of the recipes are quick to make and easy at the same time.
In the book, Chrissy gets very real about her post-partum depression and how it took her a long while to get back off the couch and into the kitchen and how cooking helped her get back on her feet and into a normal life. So I do believe this book will make an ideal gift to any moms, whether they have just had a baby or just have young ones running around the house. But it’s of course also practical for non-moms, as this is by no means a ‘moms only’ cookbook of course, but most cookbooks wouldn’t suit all audiences, and this one does.
Also unlike a lot of cookbooks, the language in Chrissy’s book is very much like she’s actually talking to you rather than perfect sentences which just makes it more fun to read and cook along to. And in similar way to her Instagram captions we get a lot of ALL CAPS and !!!. Again, adding a lot of her personality onto the page, which will undoubtedly make you smile.
What about the photos then? Not only do the photos look delicious, there’s also plenty of snapshots from Chrissy’s personal life. When it comes to the recipes though, there’s 90 options for you to choose from, ranging from breakfast & brunch, soups, salads, sandwiches, snacks, potatoes & their friends, Thai mom, supper and last but not least: sweets.
Cravings: Hungry for More takes us further into Chrissy’s kitchen . . . and life. It’s a life of pancakes that remind you of blueberry pie, eating onion dip with your glam squad, banana bread that breaks the internet, and a little something called Pad Thai Carbonara. After two years of parenthood, falling in love with different flavors, and relearning the healing power of comfort food, this book is like Chrissy’s new edible diary: recipes for quick-as-a-snap meals; recipes for lighter, brighter, healthier-ish living; and recipes that, well, are gonna put you to bed, holding your belly. And it will have you hungry for more.
